In the Pantry

These are things I always keep stocked in my house for Vegan Gluten-Free cooking/baking

In The Fridge
+ Earth Balance - as a butter substitute
+ Miso - helps create a great broth or adds tang to recipes
+ Better Than Bouillon Vegetarian Base - Gluten-Free, vegan certified, rich and delicious
+ Tahini - helps give a creamy element to sauces and dressings
+ Tamari - in substitute for soy sauce
+ Almond milk - or if you prefer; soy, coconut or hemp

In The Cupboard
+ Beans - lentils and canned beans on hand, helps me throw something together
+ Quinoa - we always have some of this cooking to throw in a meal for some added protein
+ Quinoa Pasta - That's right, quinoa, in the shape of pasta
+ Gluten-Free Bread Crumbs - great for breading fried veggies and on top of pasta etc.
+ Vinegars - adds some flavor and depth to things
+ Agave nectar and maple syrup - to add sweetness and flavor all at once
+ Liquid Smoke - helps with a bar-b-que, "meaty" flavor, find it near spices
+ Nutritional yeast - This is a yellow flaky powder usually found in the bins of your local natural foods store. It has a a tangy flavor so it is great to add a little bite to a cheese substitute. It is also fortified with B12!
+ Nuts - it's hard to keep them stocked but I do my best! Cashews, almonds, macadamia, pine and walnuts.
+ Xanthan gum -To help bind in GF baking. It can be kind of pricy but you don't use that much in any particular recipe.
+ Ener-G Egg Replacer - also found at your local natural food store. This comes in a large cereal style box and will last you foooooreeevvveeeeerrrr. You can use this in VGF baked goods (even if it calls for actual eggs)
+ Gluten-Free flours - there are a multitude of non-wheat flours, I usually buy them as recipes call for them so I'm not dropping a lot at once but I always have rice and King Arthur's gluten-free flour on hand
+ Lots-o-Spices - One thing I realized when I started vegan cooking was how we rely so much on creams, cheeses, meats and eggs for flavor. When you take out those basic unami flavors your food can be bland. I thought, no wonder people think vegan food sucks. The solution is spices, which is way better for you than any of those other ingredients. I wont lie, I find myself doubling down on a lot of spice measurements.
