FAQ

Why do you call it your asshole diet?

I call it my asshole diet because it makes me feel like an asshole.
Examples:
+ I would love to have you over for dinner! "Great! But no gluten, no animal product and no soy - Good Luck!"
+ Let's meet for lunch "Yes let's but, we can only eat at these five places - Deal with it"
I find some discomfort in being that person, that specialty diet asshole that dictates what you cook or where you eat. Who do I think I am anyway?

What is your asshole diet anyway?

I am vegan and soy-free, my boyfriend is gluten-free; which pretty much makes me gluten-free.

Why vegan?

Technically I am not vegan and I honestly, I should stop saying I am but it is a little easier to say than 95% animal protein free, plant based diet. For the most part people understand what vegan is.
Anyway, I was vegetarian for about 9 months and doing research into why I had made that choice, when I came across the book The China Study. I had never planned on becoming vegan but a quarter of the way in I decided that I needed to go vegan and I needed to do it now. I didn't know the first thing about being vegan nor did I have any vegan friends so it was a steep learning curve. But, here I am 3 years later still alive and kickin' to many peoples dismay.

Why Soy-Free?

My innards say no.

Why Gluten-Free?

As I stated earlier; my boyfriend is gluten-free so in turn most my meals are too and even though I am not intolerant to it as he is, I feel all the better when I am not eating it.

Why blog about it?

I get a lot of questions about my asshole diet: What do you eat? How are you still alive? I've been thinking about going vegan, any advice? I'm gluten-free, want to swap recipes? I figured it was about time I have a place I could send these people to learn recipes, information, tips and tricks!
